Contestants spend six weeks of personal training with the trainers at Nautilus Fitness Center. The winner will receive a ONE YEAR FREE membership to Nautilus.
I got a phone call early Monday morning(January 19th). Someone couldn't do the weight loss contest. I jumped on the chance as a substitute. I figured even if I don't win the contest, I'd still be Erie's biggest loser.....*smirk*. The first day was all instructional on weight machines at Nautilus. Along with fasting for 6 hours(tough to do for a fat blue man) for a body fat analysis. I weighed in at 254.7 pounds with 26% body fat (norm is 4-17%). I changed my eating habits to help with contest. The second day, I worked out on my own. Treadmill and fitness machines. The members seem afraid of me. No one came up to me and talked. The third day I got brave and took Annette's Mix It Up Class. Holy hell was that hard. My body ached so bad that I couldn't sleep. Pain meds wouldn't work, neither did a pillow between my legs. I went to work in the morning and walked like I was 95 years old. It took 24 hours before I could walk nornally. Thursday was my last chance at working out before leaving town on the weekend. I ran 1 1/2 miles on the treadmill and did upper body on the machines..... Weighed myself after, and lost @ 6 pounds............Go Me!
Week 2
Took a Pillates Class on Monday. Being a man hinders the workout. There are moves in this class that aren't in the Kuma Sutra. I positioned myself by the door, just incase I needed to escape. The room was full of women, so I couldn't leave in shame. Next day felt a little better, sore but better. Did the treadmill and body machines Tuesday. Wednesday was Mix It Up with Annette again. This time I picked up the routine easier. Only a handfull of patrons get the nerve up to talk to me. The instructors and staff are great. Thursday worked out on the machines. And Friday came, I went to the Nautilus at Family First. Trainer Manny showed me the ropes on a Cross Trainer machine. Weighed myself again, lost @ 14 pounds. Dam this stuff works! SuperBowl Sunday arrives (Go Steelers!). I woke up early for a "special" Spinning Class with Barb. All of the radio contestants are doing the class. You have to sign out a banana seat for class. Apparently somebody must steal these. Class is intense. I found out that stationary bikes do not have brakes, unless you call your shin brakes when the pedals slap against it until you stop. Up, down, up, down, high, low. I was the only man again in this class. One of the bad points...... I sat on my "junk" twice. Finished the final half of the class sidesaddle. Workout wasn't that bad........so I thought. I was fine all night until it was time to goto work. I sat down to put on my socks. My ass hurt so bad that I thought I spent the past weekend in prison.......
Week 3
Pilates with Annette is progressing. I still can't do the "flying V's" or the "rope pull", but I'm holding my own. I began to workout on the cross trainer daily. This is my favorite machine now. Nat The Hat is also in the Mix It Up classes with me. Annette plays rock tunes now in class. I now sing in class when I'm not gasping for air. Annette also changes up some moves. She added a move that I like to call, " Sexual Hokey Pokey". You stick your butt back and pump twice. Then your pelvic thrust forward twice. I could only hold it in so long. After about 30 seconds I accidentally let out a little snicker. Then Nat busts out laughing. Now I have to explain to the whole class of women that I didn't say anything. Workouts are beginning to be fun. Members are now approaching me and talking to me. Maybe I'll end up as Nautilus' Mascot or something.....haha
